Independence Can Be Lost

God has blessed me with over eighty years of living free in this Republic.

We will celebrate the 250th anniversary of what our forefathers won in 1776. Many of them risked everything they worked for years to build, as well as their lives, to be able to live in freedom. They purchased the freedoms we enjoy with their blood and sacrifice.

They believed in God-given rights to worship freely, work, and own property. Rights that we often don’t even think about. It cost many of them their lives.

Freedom is never free.

Our freedom was finally won for us in 1776, but many thousands of lives have been given to protect what God gave us through our forefathers. The freedom we enjoy today was paid for with the blood of men and women who served to defend our country and our way of life.

You may remember or know a family member who was lost in one of the more recent wars. Perhaps they were not killed but lost part of their body or carried the battle scars in their minds for the remainder of their lives. To them the Flag was a symbol of Freedom.

One of my uncles was gassed in World War One. His lungs were so damaged that he was not able to hold down a job to support his family. Another uncle wounded in WWII recovered physically but was never able to be around fireworks. Even the backfire of a car would send him to the ground in fear.

My older brother was not physically wounded on the beaches of Iwo Jima, but his experience of picking up hundreds of wounded and dead off the beach was with him until he died in his nineties. For years, he woke up screaming from his dreams of those who lost their lives and body parts on those beaches.

No, freedom is never free. It cost is lives and suffering.

I want to see the United States stay FREE.

The only way we will stay free and continue to have the freedom to worship God is by following His laws for mankind.

Our nation was formed by God-fearing men with the idea of protecting all of us and ensuring that those rights could not be taken from us. They guaranteed us the right to bear arms so that our government could not enslave us as socialist governments do.

As Christians, we can help keep our Nation free.

Today we can still stand for God’s Truths and vote against all those who support evil.

Yes, there are those in our Nation that support evil and want to enslave you.

It is not too late to save our country. We can still turn it around and away from sin and destruction. It takes being brave and trusting God to stand against the well-organized worldly evil.

Perhaps even Christians should organize and stand together for righteousness. Satan’s forces are not the only ones that can band together. Christians have worked to stop many evils, such as the murder of babies and assisted suicide. We can make a difference as individuals and in larger groups.

When you see a rise in hate for the Jews, you know that what will follow is the same hate directed toward Christians. Satan will not win the final battle, but he will spread evil to all who will yield to his worldly lies.

Christians should be the new patriots.

The place to start after committing your life to Jesus is following this Scripture for times like these. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV says, If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

This Scripture lays the burden upon the shoulders of those who follow God. You and I can make a difference if we are brave enough to stand against sin. In this country, one way we do this is to vote for those who trust and obey God so they can replace those committed to doing evil.

This is not a political party issue; it is a moral issue. Christians should stand against all groups that clearly are against God and His Word. This is our duty first to God and then to our country. It is not a political issue; it is a decision to support good over evil even when it means we must change.

Political parties change, but God does not, and His Laws are to protect us. As citizens, our duty to God and man is to stand for what is good and against evil wherever we find it. It is evil at every level that will enslave us.

Jesus tells us what will enslave us.

In John 8:34 NKJV, Jesus says, Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever sins is a slave of sin.” We are not free as long as we allow sin to rule our lives or our nation. When sin is left alone, it always grows until it takes control of everything and everyone. Over the last fifty years, we have seen the effects of sin in our nation and in our government leadership. Today, we are closer to being enslaved by a socialist agenda than at any other time in our history.

So what are the sins that will bring our nation down?

Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles tells us in Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV lists many sins that we need to root out of our lives and our society. As you read what Paul says, you can easily see these sins growing like a cancer in our nation.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

We witness many of these sins daily; perhaps you may find yourself guilty of some of them. If so, you are a part of the problem within our nation. Even more importantly, Paul makes it clear that you will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Accepting Jesus as your Savior and standing up for all God’s Laws will make you part of the solution. If we humble ourselves, obey God, and call upon Him, He will not only save our souls but use us to reach others that they may be saved.

Remember from where true freedom comes.

Much blood was spilled by young American men and women over the decades. The blood spilled on battlefields called Concord, Charleston, and Yorktown was not the first time blood was spilled for your freedom.

No, 2,000 years ago, a young man named Jesus paid for our freedom from sin with His blood. It is that freedom on which our nation’s freedom depends. John 3:16 NKJV tells us, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

This is where true freedom comes from for our Nation and us. It only comes from God.

In Conclusion

Our freedom comes from our relationship with Jesus and our obedience to God’s Word.

A nation’s freedom comes from its acceptance of God’s Law and His Will.

Our forefathers made sacrifices for our national freedom 250 years ago.

We only stay free if we stand against sin and for God’s Truths.

Let’s humble ourselves and pray for our nation. As we pray, we need to commit ourselves to standing against the world and for God.
