Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven
There is TIME.
Our verse tells us there is a time for every purpose.
Perhaps, that means that those who pass at birth have already fulfulled their purpose. There was already something that we learned from them, that they taught.
Likewise, those who live a hundred years or more, have been given all that extra time to do the same.
The question remains to be asked: Have YOU passed on to another that which you were supposed to share?
Since we believers in Christ, already know that sharing Him is the most important thing that can ever be shared, have we done that with full and total abandon?
Read that again. Have you done that with full and total abandon and if not, why not?
Seasons of Our Lives
My brother in law was fond of saying that there are seasons in our lives. Throughout his long life, he was a church planter, a co-founder of World Indigenous Missions, a pastor, and a missionary. In his 95 years on this earth, he shared the Lord through many seasons of his life.
I am now in the winter of my life and realize that each season has its own joy.
Each has a different pace, but may each one bring us a closer and closer walk with the Lord.
Charles Dickens, in the opening lines of his “Tale of Two Cities” wrote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” It is considered “one of the most famous passages in English literature.”
If applied to your life, to your day, you might find it to be the same. Time is a precious gift from God. It can be filled with ways to help another or to harm. Our words and actions fill each day we live for good or evil.
Each day can and does hold joy and anguish.
Sometimes, these emotions follow one another with astonishing speed. We rejoice at the birth of a baby, hear of the death of a loved one, hope for the peaceful resolve of a troubling situation, read the numbers of Christians dying for their faith, get a call from a friend, taste a bit of chocolate, hear of a job loss of a neighbor.
Perhaps, tomorrow will be better or worse, you think.
Perhaps, you don’t think at all, merely get through the living of the day to crash in weariness.
It is all the glorious experience of LIVING.
Our great God has given us this season, this purpose, this TIME.
I have hated the expression “killing time,” ever since I was a child.
How awful I used to think, and still do, that we take this most precious gift of time and fill it with nothing of importance merely to make it speed by us at an even quicker rate than it already managed to do.
Have we ever said, when asked, that we are cherishing this moment, treasuring this hour, delighting in this day?
Do we thank God for every moment we have been given?
Have you asked Him for direction in living them well?
Our time runs through that hourglass of life with incredible speed.
In the midst of that living, believers and followers of Christ, have taken the free gift of salvation through Christ and have received ETERNAL life.
Time will be an eternal gift to live with God from now though the eons of all time without end. What a blessing beyond comprehension to take that gift from God, knowing that He will help you to live it within His Perfect Will.
While still on this earth, time comes in 24 hour packages.
Open them carefully, thankfully, with utter joy and hope, believing God will help you live them as you should.
May full gratitude fill every moment.
Go forth now, loving God and each other, in the TIME He has given YOU.
