John 14:6 NKJV Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Only Jesus is the Way to God. He is the Truth. He is the Life worth living.
This little poem was begun when I was 10 year old … recalled…and finished in my 77th year.
THE HILL…OF LIFE
I climbed the hill
At break of day.
I was a child,
I came to play.
The years went by
Life passed so fast.
One thing I learned,
God’s Love will last.
The hill was hard,
My darkest day.
I had grown old.
I came to pray.
He met me there,
Who knows the way
To take me Home,
With Him to stay.
—
Sixty seven years in the writing, this little poem described a hillside behind my grandparents home.
I scampered up and down it constantly throughout the years of my childhood, as my grandmother raised me, teaching me of Jesus.
The poem was lost in the many decades since.
Last night the stanzas came to me that I began writing as a child.
Life had indeed passed quickly.
I haven’t seen that hillside in well over half a century, but I envision it still in my mind’s eye.
Deer dwelt in the valley beyond that hill I loved as a child.
I helped my grandfather grow vegetables on that hilltop, with permission given by the landowner to him.
My grandmother taught me Every Sunday afternoon for 5 hours about Jesus in the home at the foot of that hill.
We studied the Bible in depth, learning more from those years of Bible study than I learned anywhere else in my years since.
She poured her life into me and shared her love of Jesus with me.
I taught my 6 children… and then my many grandchildren…of Jesus.
My grandmother’s gift of time to me and her stories of Jesus introduced me to Him.
I fell in love with Jesus for myself.
My life and my eternity ahead were forever changed because of Him.
Dedication
Today I ask the Lord to thank my grandmother for me, as she has lived with Him in Heaven for many, many years.
And in honor of the Lord, and of Louise Margaret Hartman Weber, these words at long last are offered.
