I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Psalms 34:1-3 KJV
YOUR TURN TO SING
At the edge of the forest,
lay a long-dead, long-fallen tree,
or what remained of it…
From the decaying wood and gloom,
one or two branches still pointed skyward.
Upon one of these sat a small, brown bird.
It was a pretty forlorn scene
except for the fact
that the tiny bird
was singing
his heart out……
A long, joyful song he sang,
—and then was gone.
I think of him
on grey days,
when it seems the landscape
holds only dead, fallen boughs
—and bleak thoughts.
If we rejoice on the last skyward-pointing branch
we have left to cling to—
and sing—our own song of praise,
someone else
in the forest’s gloom,
just might hear—
and be forever changed.—
So now it’s your turn to sing…
—-and let the song…go on.
