He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, A Stone). John 1:41-42 NKJV
Did you ever feel that what you were doing here for the Lord was a far too small contribution? Maybe you were teaching a class of little ones, singing in the choir, or giving the tithe on a very small paycheck weekly. When you look back on those contributions of time and money, you feel like you have not done anything.
Today’s passage is about Andrew. He has been listening to John and realizes that Jesus is the Christ. Immediately, he goes to find his brother Simon.
The news was too good not to share.
“We have found the Messiah,” Andrew tells Simon and brings him to Jesus.

I remember a 14-year-old girl who wasn’t attending church.
She knew of Jesus from her grandmother only. A classmate at school asked her to come to church with her.
There, the 14-year-old girl fell in love with Jesus.
In time, she got saved, joined the church, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served in a number of ways.
I was that 14-year-old unchurched girl.
Since that long-ago day, sixty-two years ago, I have not wanted to be anywhere but at the feet of Jesus, loving and trying to serve Him.
The friend from school has passed away, but her part was vital.
She brought me to meet Jesus. She knew He was the Messiah and was too good not to share.
Her part was vital in the work we are to do for the Lord.
Bring in YOUR friends.
Tell them the news of Jesus.
It is too good not to share.
Andrew and Simon, whom Jesus called Peter, became disciples. Peter was especially close to Jesus.
Peter, though he denied Christ, was forgiven and used by God to begin the first-century church.
Never underestimate what God can do with one person who loves Him.
Andrew went to find his brother and share the news of Jesus.
Surely, you too have a brother, sister, neighbor, or friend who needs to hear of Jesus.
