God knows what we have done or not done. “You Yourself know,” David says to God. Comforting to realize that God is aware when we serve Him correctly and deeply probing to know that He is aware when we do not.
9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness
In the great assembly;
Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,
O Lord, You Yourself know.
10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth
From the great assembly. Psalms 40:9-10 NKJV
PROCLAIMING THE GOOD NEWS
The Psalmist David was able to say that he had proclaimed God’s good news among the “great assembly.”He had not stopped his lips from telling others of God. David KNEW that GOD KNEW. David had not hidden God’s righteousness within his heart but had shared the telling of it with others.
He had told of God’s faithfulness and shared with others the salvation God offered. David knew that he had not concealed the lovingkindness of God nor hidden God’s truth. These things David revealed and shared and told over and over to the great assembly of people in David’s life.
REVEALING OR CONCEALING
What are we doing to tell others of the goodness and faithfulness of God in our lives?
Are we speaking to others of God and His working in our own lives?
Have we shared with the neighbor, co-worker, friend, church class, and at that gathering of friends for coffee?
Have we spoken out of God’s great love and also of the consequences of not following Him?
SHARE THE PERSONAL
Perhaps sharing that time of trial and difficulty in your own life and the way God helped and saved you is just what the person next door needs to hear today.
GOD KNOWS
You Yourself know David said to God. God knows what we are doing to tell others of Him…and what we are not. Sobering words indeed.
