Why are you really working? To care for your family? Or to buy groceries? To pay the rent?

There is an even better reason.

23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Col.3:23-24 NKJV

OUR WHOLE HEARTS

Scripture says that we should put our whole hearts into our work. We should apply all effort to our task, as though we are accomplishing the job for God Himself and not for man.

ONLY TEMPORARY GOALS

Working with only earthly, temporary goals, we are sometimes overwhelmed with the brevity of the accomplishment. We consume our food, and the rent is due again, and the person we provide for might seem unappreciative.

ETERNAL MEANING

Working for God assures us from His Word that serving the Lord brings an inheritance from Him as our reward. This inheritance is because we serve Christ, and His gifts of peace, joy, hope, and pure love will not end or expire. Furthermore, it gives eternal meaning and ultimate purpose to all our tasks.

We can only fail in life if we refuse to do the work God has given us to do. He has called each of us to a ministry and equipped us to fulfill that mission.
