That is the question; isn’t it?
The question answered only by the presence of SIN.
It boggles the mind that we could be so vile, so heartless.
Another day, another unspeakable heartache. We have seen it play out again, Each time there are new victims and new heartbreak for those of us who are, for now, still left standing.
The breaking news of the day has left us again shocked beyond words at the newest horror of man’s inhumanity to man.
The prophet Malachi says it well.
Have we not all one Father?
Has not one God created us?
Why do we deal treacherously with one another
By profaning the covenant of the fathers? Malachi 2:10 NKJV
Why are we dealing treacherously with one another when, in fact, we all have the same Father.
We are all of the family of God Almighty Who has created all of us.
There within the family of God, we are brothers.
Yet, despite the brotherhood with our fellowmen, we profane the values of our earthly forefathers and take the lives of those with whom we share this planet.
We fellow human beings are brutal with one another.
We kill, we torture, we do speakable acts of violence upon one another.
WHY?
When we all have ONE FATHER, we should all be channels of His Love.
Let us read further in Malachi:
Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who [a]meditate on His name. Malachi 3:16 NKJV
What a beautiful thought. We who are in awe of God and who love Him and obey Him, often speak with one another about Him. You attend church, and you read and study your Bible, often with friends.
During that time, you speak to each other about God.
You rejoice over the things He has done.
Perhaps, you marvel aloud together about the things that God did throughout the Old Testament and New for believers. You might also recount the times that God has punished those who refused to obey His commands. We remember the sorrow that unbelievers and evil-doers brought upon themselves with their sins.
Now for the heart-warming moment for believers.
It is also a heart-stopping moment for those who are not believers.
Are you ready?
The verse says that the LORD HIMSELF listened to and heard our conversations.
He thoroughly heard what we said and did something about it all. He had a book of remembrance written before Him with the names of those of us who fear the Lord. He has our names down as some of those who think of Him and meditate on His Name.
Can you imagine it?!
The Great God Who Created the universes, listens to believers’ prayers and then also listens when we speak to one another about Him!!
To show that this is important to God, He has it written down.
Through the eons of time, through the ages of man, God has your name, believer, and mine written down with the account of our conversations with each other about our love for HIM!!!!
No, I will not add another word there.
Simply, THINK OF THAT!
And then, THANK HIM…
…and treat your brothers like brothers.
