2 And Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.” Exodus 5:2 NKJV
How many times in your life have you heard someone say something that is close to these words of Pharaoh?
Someone might ask you why you feel you shouldn’t be doing something that others think perfectly acceptible.
You explain that it is clear in God’s Word that this is something with which believers should not be involved.
They scoff and say why should they obey the words that God has in His Book when they don’t know nor believe in God.
They might say that they don’t believe He exists so why should they obey words that He has supposedly said.
Do they tell you, as Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron, that they do not know the Lord and will therefore not obey Him?
Yes, sadly, they likely do say very similiar things. Our society is filled with people that feel that they do not know God at all.
Perhaps, it is because, like Pharaoh of long ago, they have been steeped in the religion of their world.
Perhaps, materialism and philosophy have been their gods.
Life sometimes pushes in and all thoughts of an afterlife or the existence of God is pushed to the far recesses of the mind.
Life is, in fact, fleeting.
We keep busy with all the things that our family and friends tell us are to be pursued.
We stay very busy, indeed.
Growth, education, family, friends, sports, marriage, children, career growth, retirement, death. We are all on that calendar of events. Some are just starting out and some midway, while some are nearing the end of their journey here on earth. Some have a much shorter time here on earth than others.
My prayer is that you talk to God and tell Him that you want to know if He is real and to please help you to believe.
Read Romans 10:9-10 and the book of John in the New Testament gospels.
Hopefully, you will ask God to forgive your sins and tell Him of your belief in His Son Jesus as your Savior.
You are now a new Christian believer and the adventures are just beginning in your new life.
The good news is that your new life began in your prayer and will continue through all Eternity.
You now know that the Voice of the Lord IS to be obeyed. Your excuses are gone.
Pharaoh and many like him died in their sins. For them, it was too late.
You, however, prayed and believed just in time.
Now it is YOUR TURN to tell others of Jesus before THEIR TIME RUNS OUT!
