Seek Him

Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name: Amos 5:8 KJV

I was rereading the book of Amos the other day in our daily Bible readings, when this passage jumped out at me.

Amos is trying to get Israel to see that they must follow only the One True God.

So many around them were turning to false gods and idols, that he wanted Israel to follow Jehovah God alone. He wanted them not to sin as so many others of them were doing already.

Amos reminds them in this verse that only OUR Father God controls the constellations.

God had made and cared for the cycles of day and night and the water cycle of earth.

Amos knew that the True God of Israel was the only True God Who has all power.

Then we read the soul-stirring words of Amos that pronounce the True God of Israel turned “the shadow of death into the morning.” Think of that wordage, and the power behind that incredible truth.

Our God can bring us from the darkness of our sin and sorrow to the glorious new dawn of hope.

He brings us from the midnight of our souls to the dawn of joy and healing. He brings us from the shadow of death into the morning light of dawn.

We stand at the beginning of a new year as I write these words.

The old has passed away. With the passage of time, perhaps you too have seen the false things that we chased fall away.

The gods of fame and fortune are not real. They take our time and our energy and we falsely worship at their feet.

Our True God and Father of Jesus Christ is the Only True God.

Amos wrote of Him, long years before Jesus came to earth to fulfil the prophecies written of Him. We have the whole story, and understand so much more of God’s Plan of Salvation today.

It is my prayer that you will accept Jesus as YOUR Savior now, if you have not yet done so.

Read the book of John in the New Testament and read Romans 10:9-10.

Christ was sent to die for YOUR sins.

If your confess your belief in Jesus to God and ask Him for forgiveness through His Son, you WILL BE SAVED. It is promised by God in His Word.

You can, with the help God gives, turn from your past and follow Jesus. If we ask Him, He will infill us with His Holy Spirit of love. With His Spirit within us, we will have guidance and help to follow Jesus throughout the rest of our lives turning fully and forever away from the false gods of this world.

Remember that Christ is the Light of the World.

Following Him and embracing the teachings of Christ will bring you to the full and glorious realization that you have been turned from the shadow of dealth into the morning.

May the bright light of Christ forever open that morning to the Eternal light of His Love and lead you ever onward into the life that God wants you to live.
