46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46 NKJV
CHRIST CAME AS A LIGHT
Firstly, Christ came into the world to bring us salvation and to teach us the ways of God. We should not abide in darkness from now on. We now hold His Light. He was Light in a world made dark by man’s sin.
WE HOLD HIS LIGHT
Therefore, those who believe in and follow Christ, have His Light within them. There is His goodness and truth and light flowing within us and shining from us into the world. Those of the world see us and see Christ within. They see the goodness of Christ in our actions and daily lives. They benefit from the kindness and love that flows to them from Christ in us.
OTHERS ARE WARMED BY THE LIGHT OF CHRIST IN US
We now have, so to speak, a candle of Christ’s Love within us. We should not hide such a Light.
At the same time, others will see the love you carry and share from Christ. Further, you will be His Hands and Feet in this world. As we live more and more as Christ wants us to live, those around us will feel the effects of His Love in us. Given these points, they are warmed by the Light of Christ that we hold in our hearts.
DESIRING TO BE MORE LIKE CHRIST
Such a powerful and holy, true, and beautiful way of living brings us to want more and more of Christ. We now want to be more like Him and all that God created us to be. Meanwhile, there is no desire to live in darkness for we have learned the powerful and glorious light of the Son of God. We have turned from the darkness of sin and drawn close to Jesus. In joy, we carry His Love and Light.
Finally, we should not abide in darkness ever again, for we have seen the brilliant light of Christ and nothing on this earth is greater.
