Nation’s Great or Not

Often, in our world, we forget who makes nations great. Great leaders certainly can help, if they are following the will of God, or hurt when they do not. However, men and women tend to place their trust in worldly leaders. Often, those leaders are concerned only with enriching themselves.

Our nation stands on the verge of being overcome by evil. Government officials have promoted the rights of killers, rapists, and violent criminals over those of honest citizens. Many have not only supported criminals but also worked to defund the police.

Riots are supported by evil politicians, who state openly that burning police cars and destroying businesses is a non-violent protest.

What is even worse, these politicians are often re-elected. How can we do this to our nation and our children?  Remember when parents wanted to make a better place for their children. Now it seems that many want unsafe streets and schools, and elect those who want to defund our police.

We can make our nation great again. “This is not a political slogan, but a fact.” However, it can only happen if we return to God’s Laws.

There is only one way to redeem this nation or any other nation.

It all depends on you turning to God!

Of course, it is not only you, but you can join others who want to save our nation. All of us must stop voting for evil men just because they belong to “our party.” We must ask ourselves what is morally right, based on God’s Word, and act accordingly.

Remember, God can replace nations that turn against Him. There have been many nations that have been powerful and seemed invincible. However, God raised other nations to destroy them.

Job 12:23-24 NIV says the following about God.

He makes nations great, and destroys them;
He enlarges nations and disperses them.
He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason;
He makes them wander in a trackless waste.

If you take time to study the Old Testament, you will see clearly how God raises nations to punish those who turn from Him. You can see how He takes a small nation like Israel and makes it great.

God also takes a mighty nation like Rome, which seemed to have conquered the world, and destroys it.

Where does our nation stand with God?

Look at the news headlines or what is going on around you. Our nation has taken a stand against almost all moral values. We see Muslim and other groups taking down the American Flag and burning it while shouting, “Death to America.”

Lawlessness is displayed in every major city. People feel free to destroy what others have worked their whole lives to build. It is total madness, and we stand by and watch until we are attacked.

Listen to Paul’s description in Romans 1:28-32 NKJV and see if it does not sound like much of America today.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are wisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:28-32 NKJV

What is happening in our nation can change.

God wants us to have peace and joy in our lives, but He gave us the choice. We can listen to God’s commands and receive His blessings or not.

Our loving God will not force us to follow His way, but He gave us the following promise.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

God never changes. He will listen to our prayers when we show that we are willing to commit our lives to Him. God wants us to turn from the ways of Satan listed by Paul in Romans.

God calls us to a better way.

We hear a lot of hate from Muslims and other groups expressed against both Christians and Jews. Anyone who believes differently is selected for violent attacks. This is not the way of God or anyone who follows God. Hate is the evidence that a group is against God even if they claim otherwise.

This is not the Christian Way! Jesus is clear that God requires more of us, and He gives us a starting point.

Listen closely to what Jesus says.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:43-45 NKJV

Jesus never speaks idle words! He is telling us what we need to overcome the sinfulness we see listed in Romans. These words will change your life and the lives of others who see your love.

These are the points we need to remember.

God builds nations up, and He also takes them down.

If our nation chooses to follow after evil, God will judge it.

You can make a difference by humbling yourself and praying for God’s will.

Love your enemies.

Bless those who curse you.

Do good to those who hate you.

Pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.

There are several good reasons you should do this, but the greatest reason is, “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.”

What will you choose?

Will you hate and kill as the world does?

Or will you choose to follow Jesus and love your enemies?

You and I are called upon to make a decision, and our decisions will affect what happens to our country.

My prayer is that you will join me in proclaiming as Joshua did in 24:14, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
