“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3 KJV

most important questionThe Question

What is the most important question that you have been asked?

Likewise, what is the most important question that you believe you have ever asked another?

Might that question have been about accepting a job, or a marriage proposal?

There is a question that is even more important than those.

In all of life, it is truly The Question we must consider and ask others.

——

One day, my then 3-year-old granddaughter Becca, stood in a McDonald’s ladies’ room waiting for her mom to help her reach the sink to wash her hands.

I am told she looked a woman beside her up and down, and out of the blue, asked the stranger, “Do you know Jesus?”

“Ah, what?……oh…ok…Jesus?…um.. er..,.” was the reply, as the stranger edged away.

I wonder if the child’s words will haunt.

I wonder if someday this never to be known stranger will encounter Jesus for herself and remember.

Mostly, I wonder why we don’t love enough to ask others the same question.
