Love Like Spindrift

No doubt, you know this already, but I did not.

I opened a book in the public library and saw this unfamiliar word. Google searching gave me the definition. “Spindrift” is the spray off the crest of waves.

To me, it is a beautiful word.

Some will remember, as little children, standing near the waves and feeling the mist’s touch.

Spindrift reaches us, even if we are not yet in the waves ourselves.

I jotted the word down and put it in my purse to perhaps someday be used in my writings. That day has come.

God brought to my mind that as Christians we are to speak and share Jesus with those around us, Christians and non-believers alike.

God’s love flows through us, and we overflow God’s beauty and joy to those around us.

This verse says it perfectly. He wants us to abound in love, His Love, to one another.

And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.  1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 NKJV

Do you abound in love toward others? It is the Lord’s doing if you do.

Furthermore, the following verse also shows us that what we speak reflects that which is in our hearts.

If our hearts hold the love of God, it will be evident in our speech.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.  Luke 6:45 NKJV

Those who hear us might not yet be in the waves of faith themselves.

Perhaps, you are their first encounter with someone telling them of Jesus.

Whether they engage with you or turn away, they have been touched by the gentle mist of Christ’s love that surrounds us and is in us as believers.

You are Spindrift..and so am I.

May we go…and touch the world!
