LIGHT

The God Who began Creation by saying, “Let there be Light!” is the God Whose Son is the Light of this World.

In between and around those truths lie a Bible of His Words and actions, and Light comes to play throughout.

Light illumines and gives us hope.

Light warms our world and our souls.

So let’s look at some of these verses about the light of our God.

First of all, we must realize that when we speak of our Father God, we are speaking of the Lord Who is and wants to always be a light to us, illuminating our salvation.

In Him, there is nothing for us to fear because the light illuminates God’s strength in our lives. He is showing us that there is nothing to fear. Thus, we read this precious verse from Psalms:

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1 KNJV

This is the God Who made everything in the universes and every cell of our beings. He began with the words:

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Genesis 1:3 NKJV

This light that began Creation will be with believers forever. It will be a light to our path.

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.  Psalms 119:105 NKJV

How wonderful to know that as a believer in God, He will be a light to our feet and the way we are to walk.

The poor man and the oppressor have this in common:
The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.  Proverbs 29:13 NKJV

God lights the path for good and bad in His great love for us. When we realize that we can truly be His children and trust and obey Him, we will want to commit our lives to His Will and never walk in the darkness of sin again.

From early on, Adam and Eve sinned and chose the ways of sin and evil instead of following God.

We know that God sent His Son to die for our sins.

When we believe that Jesus is truly the Light of the World and the Risen Son of God, we confess our sins to God through the death of Jesus on the cross, which was a sacrifice for our sins. Thereafter, we commit to following and obeying the Lord.

This is a sweet joy:

Truly, the light is sweet,
And it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun;  Ecclesiastes 11:7 NKJV

And to follow the Son of God is more precious than words to express it.

Walking in the light of the Lord is forever a blessing.

O house of Jacob, come and let us walk
In the light of the LordIsaiah 2:5 NKJV

Indeed, throughout the Old Testament as well as the New, we see that walking in the light of the Lord is always best.

The world tugs at us to walk in the way of man and follow in the path of sin. Such a path is always dark and leads to death and hell.

OUR LIGHT

Following Jesus, the Light of the World, makes us each become a light for Him.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Matthew 5:14 NKJV

We do not light a candle and then hide it away.

Instead, we light it so that it might brighten our path, lighten the darkness of the room or corner of the world in which we live.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:16 NKJV

Notice that our light is not given to us that we might take praise from men for our light. Instead, our good works shine to bring glory to our Father in heaven. Perhaps that good deed you did will cause the person you helped to thank God and, thus, think more about God. You might use the opportunity to teach them about believing in Jesus, confessing their sins to God through Christ, and asking the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts.

Allow your light and good deeds to open the door to your witness for Jesus.

How wonderful to teach another about the way to salvation and see someone come to Jesus.

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  John 3:19 NKJV

We need only look around us to see that the world loves darkness and sin. It is all around us in this world.

Praise God, His light is stronger than the darkness.

Jesus is stronger than the things of this world.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”  John 8:12 NKJV

Think of what Jesus is saying here. He IS the LIGHT of the WORLD. We who are believers and following Him will NOT walk in the darkness, but we will have the LIGHT of Life. We will walk with Jesus. His LIGHT will lighten our path, and HIS LIGHT will be in US. The following verse reiterates this.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.  Ephesians 5:8 NKJV

When we were still in our sins and not believing in, nor following and obeying Christ, we were in the darkness of our sin.

Now we are believers, both obeying and following Christ, and as such, we are light in the Lord.

We are His children, and we are walking in His LIGHT.

He is showing us the path clearly in the LIGHT of HIS LOVE.

His LIGHT is WITHIN us in the form of the HOLY SPIRIT. We Carry the LIGHT.

You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.  I Thessalonians 5:5 NKJV

We are of the day and of the light that Christ has given us. We are no longer of the night, darkness, or sin.

PRAISE GOD!!!!!!

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;  I Peter 2:9 NKJV

As believers, followers, and obedient children of God, we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, chosen by God. Thus, we have become part of God’s holy nation. We are now HIS OWN SPECIAL PEOPLE !!!

We are HIS!!!

In that capacity, we proclaim the praises of God and His Christ.

WE HAVE BEEN CALLED OUT OF THE DARKNESS AND INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT!

We pray that we spend every moment of our existence on earth and someday in Heaven for all eternity serving and praising HIM!!!

May your praises for God touch the hearts of those around you while we are still on earth, and may your witness lead them to hunger for Christ as well.

MAY THE JOURNEY WITH WHICH GOD HAS BLESSED YOU, BRIGHTEN THE WAY FOR OTHERS.

SHINE YOUR LIGHT and FOLLOW THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD…OUR JESUS!!!
