Are You Listening and Obeying?
The person who listens and heeds the word of God wisely is the person who is obeying the commandments of God.
God’s Word is not merely glanced over, quickly read, and then often greatly ignored.
The person ignoring God’s Word will find more of the same evil that he perpetuates.
Let us read our verse from Proverbs today:
He who heeds the word wisely will find good,
And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Proverbs 16:20 NKJV
It is the person who heeds and follows consistently and fully God’s Word who finds good.
The person who loves God and God’s truth, will cherish and treasure His Word.
That person will want to be obeying and following God’s Word in all its fullness and in all the ways that impact all aspects of their life.
They are the ones who will find that which is good and of God.
True happiness is found in the Lord.
Far too often, we put our trust in things that simply cannot save us. We rely upon man instead of God. We put our trust in the newest medical discovery or our next breakthrough in computers, AI, or in our military’s strength. While those things might be amazing, they cannot fully protect us or answer our soul-searching questions.
We are finite creatures. Our body-building has limited helpfulness. Our inventions are limited.
We are mere humans when all is said and done.
In fact, we are very flawed, sinful humans if we are utterly truthful with ourselves.
What then is the answer. Where do we turn for the full help we all need?
There is full happiness only when we seek and find our Father God, through belief in His Risen Son and our Savior Jesus.
When we confess our belief in Jesus, and ask for forgiveness of our confessed sins from God through Christ’s death on the cross for us, there is joy in the new life ahead. True happiness is only in turning from our sins in full obedience to God and in always following and obeying Him.
Here all things become new.
Whoever trusts in the Lord and obeys His perfect commands, which are made by God, will find that as Romans 8:28 also tells us, all works together for good to the one who loves God. That person will be happy because he is in the perfect will of God and in a joyful relationship with His Creator.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NKJV
You must maintain any relationship. You do not marry and walk away from that person.
Much is the same with our relationship with God.
We talk daily,seek close communication and companionship.
I read God’s love letters to me daily in His Word.
I seek to know His desires for my life and follow them.
God has all knowledge and understanding of all things including the perfect plan for my life and for yours.
Let us go to Him right now and talk to Him about it.
It is, indeed, the only way to true happiness.
