Kerfuffle
A friend at church once laughingly said,”Carol, no one else uses that word but you.”
The word she referred to is “kerfuffle.” It means a mistake, a mixup, a disturbance, or a mess.
I love the sound of it… and so often, it seemed, my own words come out backwards and, …well,… land me in a kerfuffle.
I thought of that word this morning.
An old friend had texted me for prayer after her recent fall. I texted her back telling her my husband and I were praying for her recovery and letting her know of the recent wonderful answer to prayer for our son who had been battling cancer.
I texted to her in bold print, “NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD!!!”
As per usual, I didn’t proofread before hitting the send button.
Imagine my chagrin when I later read the text I had sent.
Good old computer-generated automatic word choice had kicked in on our computer, and the text didn’t say,
“Nothing is too hard for God,”
but instead,
“ITCHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD!!!”
After an unexpected giggle escaped, I asked God to forgive me for any mixup I had accidently caused.
I am grateful, again, that God has a sense of humor and great tolerance for my unintentional mishaps.

Later, I thought there was a sermon in the kerfuffle of words today.
How many times have we brought our large problems to God fully aware that He could heal and help us, yet those annoying little “itches” we would fume over ourselves, and not “bother” God with our small, daily trials.
“Itching” is not too hard for God either.
Though Autocomplete’s “Predictive text” was wrong, the thought it prompted gave me new insight and greater appreciation for our wonderful Father God.
We can go to Him for Everything.
Truly, indeed, NOTHING is too hard for our Powerful, Loving God.

And with Your glory all the day. Psalms 71:8 NKJV
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29 NKJV
