HOPE BECKONS
Within God places an inextinguishable spark,
some indefinable speck of the unexplainable.
In the darkest bleakness of human despair,
He alone is able to fan that spark into the faintest flicker.
We lift our heads from our depth,
we look up suspiciously from our pit of despondency
to try to recognise that tiny light.
Our minds reach back to identify the foreign thought.
It almost feels like a breath of hope.
Hadn’t all thought of Hope long been extinguished, doused thoroughly by life’s circumstances and sorrows?
Yet, there it is again.. that flickering glimmer of something better,
the slight stirrings of life.
We raise our eyes and see that God is there as He always has been.
It is we who have pulled the clouds between us and hidden behind the depths of our sadness.
He holds open His arms and we rush into them.
Hope breaks forth.
Joy crashes about us.
Waves of His Love overwhelm.
We smile foolishly at our humanness.
We ponder now why we embraced all that sorrow so tightly for so long.
Why we lived so lifelessly.
He was always ready to fill us with His Joy—and in Him..eternally…Hope beckons.
