Thankfulness and Prayer

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. (Phil. 1;3-8)

“…I have you in my heart…” Phil.1:7b

HEART DWELLERS

Some people

end up living

in your heart.

 Uninvited,

they just walk

right in,

when you aren’t looking,

when you aren’t paying

 any attention.

You one day realize

they are there,

have been there

for quite a while, in fact…

in heart residence.

You think

of telling them

about

the ups

and downs

in your life.

It strikes you

that you know already,

they will care.

You find yourself

wondering

if their joys

and sorrows are,

by turn,

wonderful or awful,

and how they are getting through

the living of them.

You hope they know

that God put you here

to help them through the

rough places

in their journey,

as much as He has put them

in your life,

for the same purpose.

You find yourself praying for them…

 …always…

and thanking God

for putting them

in your life.

You thank Him

with tears of joy

and tell Him there

aren’t words enough

for such blessings.

And then, you feel God smile–

because He has known

all along the blessing

this person, this soul-friend,

would be in your life.

It is why God left the door

to my heart open,

the day you walked right in.

Note from Pastor Bruce: I so enjoy these short inspirational pieces by my wife Carol. Each one lifts the heart. One of my favorites is The Day Roy Prayed. It tells the story of how someone unexpected is able to change lives and see the glory of God.
