Poured out

Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.  John 12:3 NIV

Mary gave Jesus her best because God gave us His best!

HE POURS

 My heart lay cold,
bruised,
unresponding
within my soul..
Life had come and beaten it and in return—- no responding pulse,
no throb of joy,
no racing thrill seemed left.
 
God looked down,
my Great Physician,
and poured His Love into my soul’s heart.
 
He poured His Love until it seemingly could hold
no more,
and still He poured
more love into me.
 
“Abundant life,” He whispered
and “My Joy”, He whispered again,
—and still
He poured.
 
Grace He poured, and mercy.
Forgiveness He poured, and truth.
 
My heart arose so strong, so filled with Him,
I knew it would forever after spill His Love
to those about me, channel His Love to those whose lives brushed mine.
 
It wasn’t of me. It was of Him and His great, unrestricted, unstoppable
Love’s outpouring.
