“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.  Exodus 20:7 NKJV

Do You Hear That?

We live in a world and culture where we hear our Lord’s name taken over and over and over. Are you Guilty?

It is used so casually, to our shame, that many times we barely give it a cringe anymore as believers. Shame on us! We might not be the one saying it, but we are not defending His Name either!

I remember, many, many years ago, hearing someone take God’s Name violently and I said,” Oh, you know my Savior, too!”

A friend, ran up to me, pulling my arm, and whispering, “That person you said that to. threw acid in someone’s face. Be careful.”

Yet, from that day, there was never another time that I hear His Name being taken in vain, by this person. Years, later, I was asked to pray by one in that group for her mother.

You never know where your stand for HIM, will take you, or what it will bring.

To continue, sadly, our culture’s use of the Lord’s Name is found in song lyrics, but not in favorable, Christ-honoring ways. It is used in movies, videos, texts, on social media, in phone calls, (for those who still make calls), and most certainly, we hear it in oral conversations.

Walk down any street, anywhere, and we hear the Lord’s Name used in vain.

Walk through Wal-Mart, a grocery store, the gas station, or in the church parking lot after service, and you will find someone using His Name in a non-honoring way. What is WRONG with us??!!!

Do we not realize that we are holding fire in our hands?!

Others are listening!

Young ones are listening! Impressionable ones are listening!

Not only has our vile speech become commonplace, but frighteningly, it might become something that Christians dismiss as simply the norm.

Let us look at God’s Word about this. Very clearly, in His Commandments, we read God state that we are NOT to take the name of the Lord our God in vain.

Yes, it is His  commandment, not suggestion, that we never use His Name in vain. ASIDE FROM using His Name in respectful prayer, and while teaching others about His Word, and similar reasons, we are NOT to use His Name.

The Jewish people do not even type or write out the word God, but rather G-d as a form of respect.

Instead of using any kind of respect for our Creator and Father, we treat Him worse than an equal.

God is GOD, and He should have all the respect in the universe.

He made all things. He knows all things.

We should fall upon our faces before Him in adoration and in humility as did Isaiah and other prophets.

He is THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY and HE IS HOLY. Remember, that.

Your friends will not accompany you on the day you are sent to hell for your violation and disrespect for God.

You will be alone.

His commandment says that the person who uses the name of God in vain will not be held guiltless.

In other words, you ARE GUILTY!!

There is no avoiding the very simple truth!

You are a sinner!

You are guilty and should feel shame for your conduct and disrespect.

The God of all things made you and gave you life.

He puts His Commandments before you,  yet you scoff and ridicule Him and are GUILTY!

Be silent, ask God to forgive you, repent, and fall to your knees honoring the God of All Creation.

Otherwise, you are guilty and hell awaits.

He deserves our praise, nothing less.

Life is short. You have only two choices.

It is up to you to choose for Eternity.

Will you be GUILTY or FORGIVEN ??!!
