We have God’s promise that if we keep His statutes and commandments, it will go well with us.
39 Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. 40 You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time.” Deuteronomy 4:39-40 NKJV
MOSES POWERFUL WORDS
Our passage today is from Deuteronomy chapter 4.
This chapter, and those following, hold stirring words from Moses given before his death.
Speaking to the Israelites before they enter the Promised Land, that he himself will not enter, Moses recounts the care and help given time and again from God. The Lord God is the One and only true God. Do we choose Him and His ways or reject Him?
We need only to look at the powerful, loving, Almighty, forgiving, all-knowing God and look at His care throughout the ages to see His trustworthiness. We see God’s Promise is kept over and over.
Moses then warns them to obey the commands of the Lord God and lays out the blessings of obedience to God’s laws. He also lays out the dire consequences of disobedience.
BLESSINGS AND PUNISHMENTS, THEN AND NOW
It is a reminder for all of us that we can “enter” into God’s blessings or punishments as well by our choices.
The choice is ours. God’s Promise is still offered. The decision we must each make is a choice for life or death, for now, and for eternity.
Today, as back in the time of the Israelites, there is a life-altering choice to make.
It is your life and your future.
THE CHOICE
You must decide if that future will be with or without God.
You alone will be the one to decide to obey or disobey the God of all creation.
Will you choose His blessings or His eternal punishment?
