May these words touch your souls.
—
Forever Freedom
We claim honor for the long dead,
and their once bloodied battlegrounds.
We were not there to see them,
nor the horrors they saw,
nor the agony they endured.
Thoughtless celebrants of today watch the night sky’s fireworks in taken-for-granted freedom.
—
Nor do we honor the more recent dead,
or their still living counterparts.
Some fought and died.
Some fought and live
with their terrors every day.
We overlook mention
of their nightmares
and memories.
May we be forgiven, Dear Lord.
We who do not thank You either,
Who died to give us Forever Freedom
if we but confess
and receive You, Lord.
May we ever honor Your death for us
and Your Resurrection
That brings Ours.

45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last. Luke 23:45-46 NKJV
…”He is not here; for He is RISEN, as He said.” Matthew 28:6 NKJV
May we accept the gift of eternal forgiveness, eternal life, and eternal freedom given to us by God through confession of our sins and our professed belief in His Risen Son, Jesus Christ.
It is only in Christ that we truly find forever freedom.
