Do All Things With Love

Love guides us and fills our lives with meaning. If we attempt to do anything without love, it is like driving a car without gas. We will sputter and die out.

Love is the motivating force. God Himself is Love. His Love is poured into believers’ hearts.

In I Corinthians, Paul reminds us that we must do all things with love.

Without it, our work is without value.

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NKJV

The 13th chapter of I Corinthians is rightly called the Love Chapter.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NKJV

Thus, our words, if spoken without love, are merely noise. Our faith without love is nothing. Our works of service and sacrifice profit nothing without love.

I encourage you to read and reread all of I Corinthians, chapter 13.

In part, it tells us that Love suffers long, is kind, doesn’t envy, doesn’t seek his own, thinks no evil, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, and never fails. TRUE LOVE NEVER FAILS.

THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER FAILS.

Our love should never fail either. It won’t when grounded in God.

Lastly, Paul closes our passage with these familiar, yet ever touchingly true, words:

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.  1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV

Of faith, hope, and love, the greatest of these is always love.

May we walk throughout our lives with God at our side, and in our hearts, sharing the love of Jesus with this world.
