What are you spending your life declaring?
Perhaps, like many, you tell others about you, about your life, the life of your family, your job, or your opinion of the state of the world. Some never go farther than declaring all that they can think of about such things. Their life stops there.
Our verse tells us that there is something of much more importance that we can declare to the world.
We can tell others about God and the Wonders He does.
Tell of the God of your Salvation, and declare Him to everyone, everywhere.
Do you feel this is too lofty a goal to be possible?
Look at the device in front of you. It might be your computer, smartphone, or this week’s newest way to connect you to this world. Realize that this was undreamed of a hundred years ago. The world is now at your fingertips, and the way to communicate with someone at the far corners of this world is now possible via computers. What an opportunity to declare the glory of God to the nations!
Psalms 96:3 NKJV, Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
YET… We who have all this opportunity to reach others still tell them of the same mundane things that mankind has told others over the ages. We repeat unimportant nonsense that is fleeting and changes nothing.
Think of it. We have the opportunity to tell them of GOD and our Salvation.
We can bring them the Word of God. Share Jesus.
Your words can make a difference.
You can share your Salvation experience. Relay God forgiving your confessed sins when you first confessed belief in Christ and repented of your sins. Tell how God brought you to where you are today. Share your desire to continue to obey and follow Him, just as Jesus told of not just believing but obeying as well.
Let us look at Psalm 101:2-3.
I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
Oh, when will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me. Psalms 101:2-3 NKJV,
Loving Christ gives us the desire to behave in a perfect way.
While we will not be perfect while on earth, yet the Holy Spirit, given when we ask it of God and dwelling within us, will help us to live more like Jesus.
We will walk within our home, or job, or neighborhood, or wherever we go, and in whatever we do, with a perfect heart.
Do you have a heart that loves and seeks to serve God in all ways?
Then you have a perfect heart.
Our passage goes on to say that we will set nothing wicked before our eyes.
That means turn off the TV show that is not edifying.
Perhaps, like us, you will feel the need to no longer own a television at all.
What about the books that you read? What about your online viewing?
Hate the things that God hates, and love what God loves.
The work, lifestyle, and way of behaving in the lives of the wicked are to be hated by us.
Though we are to witness to and be kind to all, we are NOT to copy and follow those who fall away from the ways of God.
Choose, like the psalmist, not to let evil behaviors cling to us.
Instead, Declare God and Live For Him!
