He calms the storm,
So that its waves are still.
30 Then they are glad because they are quiet;
So He guides them to their desired haven. Psalms 107:29-30 NKJV
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” Mark 4:39-40 NKJV
Calm
The snow fell silently,
quickly filling already quiet niches
with utter stillness.
Peace settled down
with the noiseless
blanketing white.
The silence was profound,
a frozen world,
a wordless wonder
of hushed night.
Do you feel it? That is the quieting of God.
He sends His Peace to you when you go to Him realizing that you need Him for the next step.
You are powerless and helpless without Him, needing His PEACE to draw your next breath.
—
The Old Testament painted the scene of Jesus quieting the storm long centuries before its actuality.
The followers of Jesus, then and now, need a settling Hand letting us know that with Him all will be well.
Sometimes, we simply need to go to Him
and stay in His Presence until we feel His Nearness and infilling of peace.
The war may rage on around us, but in Him there is stillness and quiet. He will fight the battle for us.
Trust Him.
Keep your eyes on Him only.
Let His Stillness seep into your heart.
—
Look up at the sky. Breathe in the air He gives. Find His Joy and Beauty all around you.
Watch, perhaps, a skein of geese knife the evening sky, and you now know that despite the fears that raged earlier, your spirit is now at home within the Hands of God.
Let a time of prayer embrace you.
Speak and then Listen to the Father Who loves you.
Allow His Strength to protect you. He will fight the battle and you can simply be still.
All is well.
Thank Him and then accept the Calm that is yours from your God.
