Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name. Matthew 6:9-13 KJV
The words in the Lord’s Prayer
struck me
slowly and powerfully
as though for the first time
and not the countless.
Life-affirming, soul-strengthening,
life-altering words
from Christ’s Soul
to mine
to the Father’s.
Prayer as though new.
Then my words
wing to God
as though my spirit
breaks open.
All things are new.
Awareness.
Each color stirs and wraps
it’s brilliance
around my senses.
Sight now goes
beyond vision
to heart depth
perception.
Awareness.
The awe with which we touch
the curled newborn fingers
and marvel at their Creator
must be felt in equal measure
in the wonder
of an aged hand,
wrinkled-grown
in the living of the years,
given by the same life-affirming Creator of all that is.
Father,
you paint awareness
into each cell of my being.
You shelter me
in Your Protection
for the unseen ahead.
You pour
awareness
of the instant into the instants
You have granted me.
Oh Lord,
the preciousness
of the gift
takes my breath.
Keep my soul awake.
Keep me alive
all the moments given me to live.
Flood awareness,
Lord,
flood awareness
into my being…
…and allow,
oh please allow,
oh, please allow,
my Love to You
ascend
to Your very Heart
in perfect
and Eternal
Glorious Praise.
Amen
