1 Samuel 14:45 NKJV 45 But the people said to Saul, …”he has worked with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan…
Luke 18:8 NKJV 8 … Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Today we look at two seemingly unrelated bits of Scripture. The first is in the Old Testament and refers to an incident that potentially would have turned an edict of King Saul to work against his own son. Feel free to read the entire chapter, but for once, we look simply at the passage,
“he has worked with God this day.”
Can that be said of us when the crowd questions our decisions and actions, not knowing our prior knowledge or innocence? The tide of popular opinion or the way things seem are not always right. The bottom line remains the question of whether you have worked with God this day and each day of your life? Are we obeying His commands and following Jesus, or are we going the way of the world?
Therein lies our merit or reason for sorrow.
Jonathan was known that day to work with God and his fellow countrymen held up his performance as the measure by which he was to be judged. May it be the same for us.
Sadly, our world is not following God as we should be. Countless people are living together without marriage, are cheating on their employers, lying to friends, bearing false witness against neighbors, judging, gossiping, or taking credit due to someone else. The list is endless, and on it we find our own sin, or some variation thereof.
No wonder the question in Luke chapter 18, verse 8.
When Jesus comes again, will He REALLY find faith on the earth?
Will the faith of His followers have dwindled?
Will those who pick up their crosses and obey Jesus have the Holy Spirit alive and on fire within them?
Will their faith inspire and touch souls?
Have you seen the world changed by the love others have for the Lord?
Do you know that the Holy Spirit of God is TRULY within you changing the world?
Do you work with God each day?
Do you ask Him for direction?
Are your plans His plans?
Do you go to bed each night, thanking God for the opportunity He gave you to serve Him that day?
Was someone told of Jesus?
Did they hear of Salvation through Christ?
As the Old Testament reminds us, have we worked with God this day?
If Christians like you are on earth when Jesus returns, will He REALLY FIND FAITH on the earth?
If not, you can go to God and talk to Him about it.
It is not too late, to make it right.
